Foreword to Overcoming Resistance to Change

Jean’s leading driver and motivator for writing ‘Overcoming Resistance to Change’ has come from her ‘heart-brain resource’.  She has been greatly influenced with compassion and concern in terms of how people in their careers,  businesses and lives are being impacted now and into the future as a result of Covid-19.

The aim and purpose of Jean delivering ‘Overcoming Resistance to Change’ are to give you helpful insight, tools, tips, as well as practical and useful resources.  This is to enable elevating daily coping strategies to support and help you.  This is not just through the Covid-19 crisis, but through your personal and professional life in general as there are two things we can be certain about: a) change and uncertainty are a given, and b) we don’t know what our future holds.  With that in mind, we owe it to ourselves to invest in a healthy mindset and attitude, to reduce the automatic sense of ‘resistance’ we experience when we find ourselves exploring new change, in the depths of existing change and daily goals,  or faced with unexpected change and adversity.  How we manage ourselves daily is the difference between just surviving or thriving.

For those inevitable speed bumps we will hit along the road, we need a solution and adaptive orientated mindset.  That means honing our resilience, having the ability to recover faster from setbacks, taking on purposeful action, and leading with a sense of autonomy and direction moving forward.  This will enable us to emerge with strategy, optimism, hope, courage and vitality in our hearts and minds looking forward to our futures.

Change and how people are continuing to adapt will ‘showup’ differently for everyone as they continue to transition through Covid-19 into a new phased normal and a new future.  Regardless of which of the three cycles (below) of change you are experiencing in your career and life right now, there is a commonality amongst them all, in terms of the mental and emotional wellness skills you need.
